Data, filtered into information, permeates human life in all its facets. Instead of providing knowledge, it serves at the most as a confirmation of its own information control. ‘To unknow the world’ – in this way, the essence of information is successfully revealed. Always Look on the Bright Side of Life is divided into three aspects, which examine the phenomenon of light in the personal and urban context of Frankfurt. They are realised as uncommented animations with accompanying documentation. The night sky allows for partly natural, partly artificial heavenly bodies to be merged into a sovereign city sky. Lisobar’s alters the view of the Frankfurt skyline into a ‘topographic map’ of the light. Light documents, with the aid of open source software and sensors, my daily rhythm, measured in light intensity, and contrasts it with the natural day-night sequence.
